How do I set up a standard Pomodoro session?

Switch to the Pomodoro tab and set Focus duration to 25 minutes and Short Break to 5 minutes — these are the standard intervals from Francesco Cirillo's original technique. After four consecutive focus sessions, increase the break to 15–20 minutes (Long Break). Click Start at the beginning of each segment; the timer advances to the next phase automatically when it reaches zero and plays an alert sound.

Will the alarm sound if I switch to a different tab?

Yes. The timer uses the Web Audio API to generate alarm sounds, which continues playing even when the tab is in the background. However, some browsers aggressively throttle background tabs and may delay the audio by a few seconds. For reliable background alerts, keep your device volume on and avoid putting the browser in battery-saver mode. Chrome and Edge handle background timers most reliably.

What keyboard shortcuts does the timer support?

Press Space to start or pause the active timer. Press R to reset the current timer back to its starting value. These shortcuts work regardless of which timer mode (Stopwatch, Countdown, Pomodoro, or Interval) is active. Click anywhere on the page first to ensure the page has keyboard focus before using shortcuts.

How do I configure the interval timer for a HIIT workout?

Switch to the Interval Timer tab. Set Work Time to the length of each high-intensity exercise (for example 40 seconds for Tabata). Set Rest Time to the break between sets (20 seconds for Tabata). Set Rounds to the number of exercise/rest cycles you want — 8 rounds is a standard Tabata protocol. Click Start and the timer will automatically alternate between work and rest phases with distinct audio cues for each transition.

Can I save or export lap times from the stopwatch?

Lap times recorded during a stopwatch session are displayed on screen with cumulative and split times. You can select all the lap data on screen and copy it to your clipboard, then paste into a spreadsheet or notes app. There is no direct CSV export button. Your most recent lap history remains visible until you click Reset. Settings and preferences are saved automatically in your browser's local storage.
