Frequently Asked Questions

How does the business days calculator handle weekends and holidays?

By default, the business days counter skips Saturday and Sunday and counts only Monday through Friday. The tool does not automatically apply country-specific public holidays because these vary by region and year. To exclude specific holidays, subtract the number of public holidays that fall within your date range from the business day count.

How precise is the age calculator -- does it account for leap years?

Yes. The age calculator computes the exact number of years, months, and days elapsed between your birth date and the target date, accounting correctly for leap years. Someone born on February 29 in a leap year has their calendar birthday only in leap years; in non-leap years the calculator registers their birthday on March 1.

Can I calculate the number of days between two dates in the past or far future?

Yes, the calculator supports dates in the range January 1, 100 AD to December 31, 9999 AD, covering both historical and far-future calculations. For dates before the Gregorian calendar reform of 1582, the tool uses proleptic Gregorian reckoning. Results for medieval or ancient dates will differ from historical Julian calendar reckoning by up to 13 days.

Does the date difference calculator account for time zones?

The calculator operates on calendar dates only, not timestamps with time zones. It counts the number of calendar days between two dates regardless of the time-of-day offset. If you need cross-timezone duration, use the Timezone Converter tool to convert both times to UTC first, then calculate the difference in hours.

How do I add or subtract a specific number of working days from a date?

Use the Date Arithmetic tab and enter your start date and the number of days to add or subtract. Toggle the Business Days Only switch to skip weekends in the calculation. The result date is the first business day that lands on or after the computed calendar date.
